MOUNT NELSON X THEBE MAGUGU | SUITE LAUNCH
Thebe Magugu made his debut in luxury hospitality design at the Mount Nelson, Belmond Hotel, with the launch of the Thebe Magugu suite and Magugu House atelier and gallery space. It was only fitting that the launch event captured the essence of the collaboration, with a celebration of African luxury and heritage at its core.
CONCEPT
The team was tasked to conceptualise an event that gave guests an opportunity to not only celebrate alongside Thebe Magugu and the Mount Nelson, but immerse themselves in the suite, space and the colliding worlds of both entities.
Guests were welcomed and led along a reeded pathway into the garden space. Each guest received a pamphlet and numbered card, which would outline the event agenda and later guide them to their group for a hosted tour of the suite.
They were encouraged to mingle, eat and dance - with the agenda encompassing speeches, a choral performance and DJ sets, with a special performance by Zakes Bantwini.
The guests were lead in intimate groups to view the suite, atelier and gallery space. The tour began with check-in at the concierge desk, where a model lazily read a Palm Avenue Post, a guide to behind the suite, which were available to guests after their tour.
As they entered the varying spaces, they were immersed into the world of Thebe Magugu and Mount Nelson through a guided tour by their host. Models dressed in Magugu’s latest collection adorned each of the spaces - playing chess, reading a book or simply fashionably lounging.
